Calibration is the process of documenting and adjusting the reading of measurement instruments with a traceable reference. Over time, microphones, sound level meters and calibrators can drift due to mechanical wear, environmental conditions or component ageing. Regular calibration ensures that your instrument’s readings are accurate, repeatable and compliant with international standards. Uncalibrated meters can lead to incorrect noise assessments and potentially costly mistakes. For industries such as automotive, manufacturing, health and safety, or research, accurate sound measurements are critical.
Why calibrate your sound level meter?

Our ISO 17025 accredited calibration process
Acoustic Laboratory (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (ALT) is an ISO 17025 accredited acoustic calibration laboratory. Our laboratory was established in cooperation with the Norsonic Calibration Laboratory in Norway and complies with all relevant ISO/IEC 17025 requirements. Here’s what sets our service apart:
- Accredited procedures: ALT’s calibration methods follow ISO 17025 and IEC 61672-3 standards. Our technicians document and adjust each instrument’s response using traceable reference equipment.
- Comprehensive coverage: We can calibrate sound level meters, microphones, pre-amplifiers and sound calibrators of any brand, and we also offer vibration sensor calibration (accelerometers, DAQs, etc.).
- Detailed certification: Every calibrated instrument is returned with a detailed certificate showing the measurement results, uncertainties and traceability information.
- Fast turnaround: We understand that downtime can be costly. Contact us before sending in your equipment so we can minimise your instrument’s time away from your facility.
Service coverage across Southeast Asia
Although our laboratory is located in Bangkok, Thailand, we serve clients across the entire Southeast Asian region. Instruments can be shipped to us from:
- Thailand – our home base, offering both laboratory and on-site calibration services.
- Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Myanmar – send your sound level meters or microphones to our Bangkok laboratory and we will return them promptly with accredited certificates.
- Other ASEAN countries – we accept equipment from any country in the region and provide documentation recognised under the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement.
If you need to maintain ongoing compliance, we can set up calibration contracts for regular intervals (e.g., annual or semi-annual calibration). We also offer on-site vibration calibration using portable systems for accelerometers and vibration sensors.
