Why use a reverberation room?
For large or non‑uniform materials, a reverberation room is required to measure sound absorption accurately. The ISO 354 standard specifies how to determine the absorption coefficient using reverberation time measurements in a diffuse sound field. This method captures performance under more realistic conditions than a small tube.
Our facilities
ALT operates two coupled reverberation rooms designed for ISO 354 and ISO 10140 testing. We can evaluate:
- Panels, ceiling tiles, acoustic foam and composite materials.
- Absorption performance over the standard octave bands (125 Hz–4 kHz).
- Additional properties such as scattering coefficients if required.
Service area
Manufacturers and engineers from any Southeast Asian country can send large samples or assemble products in our facility. We provide comprehensive reports with absorption curves and NRC/Rw ratings.
